Extreme Wet Conditions Force Cancellation of Racing at Open House

EXTREME WET CONDITIONS FORCE CANCELLATION OF RACING DURING THE OPEN HOUSE THIS SATURDAY AT OREC

With multiple inches of rain falling over the last 10 days on the Onawa Racing and Events Complex (OREC), officials have been forced to cancel the racing portion of the Open House planned for this Saturday, October 14.

“It surely wasn’t our intent to have to cancel racing and we are disappointed we had to,” said Scott Gardner of Gardner Race Track Consultants. “However with the facility still under construction, the immense rainfall has made conditions unfavorable for parking or moving around on any non-paved surfaces” continued Gardner.

The good news is that the Open House will still take place with the plan to park the general public on the race track surface and have the Meet and Greet in the Events Center. Gates will open at 10:00 am with the Official Welcoming at 12:00 Noon inside the Events Center. Please plan to join us for a look at progress made at the facility as well as hear about plans for 2018.
