IT’S STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A REAL RACE TRACK

Phase one of the installation of the track safety wall is well underway at the Onawa Racing and Events Complex (OREC). The wall is being placed on the outer edge of the of the concrete race surface to meet the standard set for drag racing tracks. The OREC race surface will be 56′ wide from wall to wall.

“Once all the wall is moved properly in place; re-bar will be installed to the top with a concrete capped poured to provide additional horizontal strength while increasing the height to 30 inches which exceeds the recommended guidelines,” said Scott Gardner of Gardner Race Track Consultants.

The OREC Board and Gardner Consultants understand many fans and racers are anxious for work to get done so racing can get underway. However, Gardner empathizes the importance of the workmanship. “In an effort to have a premier facility, it’s important that every aspect of construction is reviewed and adjusted as needed to be sure the correct process is being completed” he continued.

Plans continue to have enough work completed to have an open house event at the OREC this fall and then a complete 2018 schedule of events. Please watch for updates as progress continues to be made. Also, don’t forget the importance of becoming an OREC stockholder. It’s through stockholder funding that the project will reach the goals as established. Please review the stockholder opportunity which is presented in detail on this website.
