WORK CONTINUES FOR 2018 OPENING

Work continues at the Onawa Racing and Events Complex (OREC) in preparation for a 2018 opening. “While the temperatures have dropped we continue to work on various facility projects to get as much completed as we can before the snow hits,” said Scott Gardner of Gardner Race Track Consultants.

Last week, the track was measured, squared and accurately marked out for the installation of the timing system. Additional work is also scheduled including underground boring, concrete work for select wall sections and low and high voltage work in preparation for the installation of the timing system.

The OREC Board of Directors has approved the purchase and installation of a brand new Accutime Timing System with LED Scoreboards. “There is a lot of work that needs to be done before the timing system can be installed and the OREC Board has now authorized that to be done, so its all systems go” continued Gardner.

It is anticipated that a schedule of events will be released later this fall as programs and events are finalized. Please watch for additional updates.
