The Onawa Racing and Events Complex (OREC), in Onawa, Iowa released today the 2018 schedule of events and general racing information. The season will get underway in May and continue through most of October.
“We are excited to put a great schedule of events together for the first season of racing at the new complex,” said Scott Gardner of Gardner Race Track Consultants.
The schedule includes several major and special events including two feature show events; The Grand Opening Extravaganza, June 9 and an Evening of Eruption on August 5. In addition, other major events include two of the outrageously popular, Shop Inc.’s Heads-Up No Prep events on June 30 and September 8 and the inaugural Midwest Diesel Event and Show on August 11. Other specialty races are the Fall Classic Bracket Special and Hallowstrange.
The 2018 Points Bracket Series will include twelve events with a combination of one and two-day races. In addition, as an IHRA Member Track, the popular Teen Championship Racing Series will be contested as select events.
The schedule as released is subject to change as work will continue in the spring to finish the facility for racing including the installation of a brand new Accutime Timing System and LED Scoreboards. Additional events are also being planned, so it’s very important to watch for changes to the schedule as spring approaches.
OREC is an IHRA Member Track located in Onawa, Iowa that will feature 1/8 mile drag racing in 2018. The services of Gardner Race Track Consultants have been retained to get the facility operational in 2018.
